I've never doubted his ability but I think you're right when you say he lacks the edge that the best drivers have. Perhaps he has spent too long in cars that were never capable of passing others. I was hoping we'd see some of the old fire from him this year but, although he's been competent in a poor car, one can't help but feel that Alonso would have done more. He might have changed manager in recent years but, if so, it slipped by me.
